Sustainability

By assessing the environmental impact of our real estate developments, attending to regulatory compliance, adopting new technologies and innovative solutions we seek to make a difference and to contribute to a sustainable development of the real estate industry. We also involve social sustainability in our projects and use  community involvement in order to achieve strong results in these areas.

As well as financial results, all our projects have an environmental strategy with specific environmental targets.

The environment and corporate social responsibility

The UN Sustainable Development Goals

The UN Sustainable Development Goals

In order to ensure our work on sustainability, we endorse the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and have signed the Norwegian Property Federation’s “The Property Sector’s Roadmap Towards 2050”. We endorse the Roadmap’s ten quality principles as a guide when building and developing new projects.

Reuse

Use and reuse of materials

Ferd Real Estate is committed to ensuring its development activities consume as few resources as possible, and we work to achieve this by focusing on using recycled materials, reducing waste and recycle waste.

Our projects are intended to contribute to a low-emission society in line of the political ambitions of the City of Oslo, Norway and the international community.

Energy efficient buildings

Energy efficient buildings

We use the BREEAM-NOR environmental classification system, which ensures that all our developments have been through a set of climate and environmental considerations. Ferd Real Estate works continually to reduce energy consumption and to minimise the impact on the environment. We were the first organisation to construct a BREEAM-NOR-certified office building, and we aim to achieve environmental certification for all our developments. We ensure our developments are highly energy-efficient and use energy from renewable sources to the greatest extent possible. We are a responsible owner when focusing on preventing financial criminality and labour rights violations. Our contract terms require that suppliers comply with ethical business practices.

Green mobility

Green mobility

Ferd Real Estate has the opportunity to plan development of large areas and communities and to work with municipalities during the planning process to create the cities of tomorrow. When planning, we develop areas with focus on green mobility solutions. Our ambitions are to  generate as little traffic as possible and use new green mobility technology.

We seek to ensure that in our projects, the most attractive option for everyday journeys is to walk, cycle or use public transport. We ensure that residents and visitors have access to easy and seamless transportation and mobility solutions.

Biodiversity and health-promoting buildings

Use of materials and biodiversity

Ferd Real Estate is committed to ensuring that its projects contribute to the sustainable use of ecosystems. Accordingly, one area of special focus at all our developments is landscape planning with ensuring that the diversity of local species is maintained as far as possible. Another area of focus is on green roof solutions that feature local species of plants. We wish that our projects has a positive impact on our customers’ health and wellbeing. This means that our projects focus on matters such as making the best use of natural light, the indoor environment, interior design plans and user-friendliness at all our developments. High-quality architecture, long-lasting materials and green outdoor space are examples of what we seek to contribute to urban development when developing residential buildings and offices.
